Miracle in Cell No. 7 (Hangul: 7번방의 선물; 7beonbangui Seonmul; A Gift from Room 7) is Korea's 2013 highest grossing film and considered as the third highest grossing film of all time in Korea.
Miracle in Cell No. 7 is a heartwarming comedy and family melodrama about Lee Yong-gu (played by Ryu Seung-ryong), a mentally handicapped father who wrongfully imprisoned for rape-murder of an elementary school girl and his daughter Ye-sung (played by Kal So Won). Lee Yong-gu builds friendships with the hardened criminals in his cell, and they help him see his daughter again by breaking her in.
Though other considered Miracle a comedy movie, I considered this movie as the saddest movie of all because of it's heartbreaking ending. With the budget so low and actors that aren't high profile, the production staff was able to produce a movie that everyone of all ages will love. It is a family for all ages and a must watch by all. Include this in one of your family movie date and don't forget to bring some tissue with you.
