The Gilas Pilipinas, our
national team, opened their FIBA Asia Cup campaign with a victory, defeating
Chinese Taipei, 78-64, last Saturday in Wuhan, China.
The game serves as the teams come back revenge to Taiwan who dealt one of only two Gilas losses in the FIBA Asia Championship last year.

Paul Lee, contributed a lot
in this game with 18 points on four three – pointers to lead the team to
victory.
The Gilas is on the zone with Gary David setting the mood scoring six points in the team’s 10 – 0 score at the beginning of the game.
Gilas takes the lead until
the Chinese Taipei made a quarter run scoring 50 – 47 lead heading into the
final period.
Lee, fresh from their loss
in the Governor’s Cup of PBA, opened the fourth quarter with a tree pointer to
tie up the game and gave the heat to the other Gilas members. The team up of
David and Lee leads the team to a double digit lead on the fourth quarter of
the game.
Gilas won the first game and will next take on Singapore on Monday before wrapping up the preliminary round against Jordan on Tuesday.
